From Mahé to La Digue
A range of options are available for the onward leg from Mahé to La Digue.
The quickest option, though most expensive, is a helicopter transfer direct from the international airport to the La Digue helipad, just minutes from the La Digue Island Lodge.
Alternatively the national airline, Air Seychelles, operates a regular inter island service throughout the day, ferrying passengers on the short hop from Mahé to Praslin.
The Mahé-Praslin route is also served by two fast catamarans, which operates at regular intervals throughout the day from the Mahé inter-island quay (situated in the capital, Victoria) to the Baie Ste. Anne jetty on Praslin.
Though not specifically designed to cater to tourists, a fleet of old fashioned schooners make daily crossings between Mahé, Praslin and La Digue, to carry cargo between the islands. A friendly chat with the captains as the schooners unload at Mahé’s inter island quay in the morning is the best way to find out about costs and sailing times.
From Praslin to La Digue
Two fast catamarans Cat Roses and Praslin Express runs regular trips between Praslin and La Digue during day light hours, with most crossings timed to link up with ferry crossing between Mahé and Praslin.
For visitors who have flown to Praslin a 20 minutes taxi ride will take them from Praslin’s Isle de Palme airport across the island to the Baie Ste Anne jetty.
In addition to the fast catamaran service, a passenger carrying schooner also makes a more leisurely crossing between the two islands and is the perfect way to slip into a laid-back holiday state of mind even before setting foot on La Digue.
